Beginners
A gentle, lightly directed introduction to group activities for 15 months to 2.5 year olds.
Beginners is a fun and stimulating programme for you and your child which also prepares them for the RSG school curriculum. Children are introduced to elements of the RSG day: Together time, story time, snack time, dance and singing.
An important part of the session is free play. Self-initiated free play enables children to develop independence, confidence, concentration and self-expression. Offering children the chance to experiment and explore is central to our philosophy. This means allowing children to do things themselves — and get it ‘wrong’ if necessary.
Various activities are set out for the children in different areas. These include water play, construction, puzzles, books, arts and crafts, small world and role play. Some children start playing right away. Others wait and observe. We believe strongly that children should be allowed to join in at their own pace and in their own time.
Children who attend the Beginners programme advance to one of our pre-schools the following academic year.
Children are welcome to attend one or more sessions a week.
